Is there a Link between Diet and Back Pain?

Can a diet full of sugar and processed fat and Type 2 diabetes cause degeneration of intervertebral discs in the back? If so, what's occurring, and can it be prevented?

Because research, bone and disc tissue from both standard and AGE "knockout" mice fed on a routine diet will be bathed in a high AGE medium, hastening the exposure of these particular tissues to AGEs.
